How To Make A Scottish Kilt

Kilt measurement

Accurate measurement is important for the proper cutting of the tartan cloth. This is the most important step, so you measure accurately. The other important thing which you must keep it in mind that,  kilt measurement is different than pant or jeans measurement. If your waist of the pant is 36 inches, then the waist of the kilt might be 38 to 4 0 inches. You can take help from someone for kilt measurement.

1-  Waist Size Measurement

The measuring tape is required in this first step to the proper measure of waist size. However, normally waist size measurement is taken from the belly button or waist because many kilt lovers wear the kilt at that point.

2- Hip Size Measurement

The hip measurement is important for accurate kilt measurement. You must erect and breathe normally. In this measurement, you must measure the widest area of the hip with the measuring tape.

Pleating the Kilt

Iron the Pleats

The pleats must be iron properly from the backside and the front side.  In addition, you can also iron the edges of the tartan.

Add the Buckles and Straps

Now it is the final step, add good quality straps with buckles with the tartan kilt and sewed them. For better fitting, straps and buckles are important.
